Chapter One - The Rundown (Sunday, August 28, 1994)
It’s been little over a year since I first found out about my past life. You see, back in the 1200’s or so, on another planet, I was a princess with the ability to use and control fire. My name back then was Anya Crystaltina and ever since I realized this, I’ve decided to use that name instead of my birth name, Jen. It feels more super hero like to use Anya and plus Jen is such a common name around here on Earth.
During my past life, my mother, Ozma, tried to hurt me just so she could extract this powerful entity that entered by body at birth. The entity is from another plane of existence. My father, the King, sent me off to Vane, a magical school where I was looked after by Celestria in order to keep me safe. Turns out Celestria was reborn on Earth as Melina. She was kidnapped by Ozma and once Melina knew who she was, she became Celestria again and vowed to free herself from Ozma who abused her healing powers.
There’s also Kyle, who was a good friend of mine in the past. He won’t tell anyone what his name was back then and goes by the name his parents gave him. Unfortunately his parents were killed by these robots that Ozma sent to Earth to capture Kyle when he was a little kid. He’s been on his own up until 1994 when he met me and that pretty much triggered everything.
Miles, a young kid that I baby sit, also came along with us and ended up gaining this bubble ability where he can protect his friends for a short amount of time. Miles, being the great student that he is, will be going to a private school that specializes in everything tech and computers. He feels that he can use what he learns here to help us out in the long run.
Tom is from New York who wasn’t part of the group that was left on Zerron. He obtained the power to see and control sound. Celestria has been helping him to control his power ever since. When he isn’t trying to control his powers he’s helping out the trade city by building houses and business.
As for Joe and Joice, no one has heard anything from them. Kyle didn’t trust them so he didn’t inform them of my rescue which lead us to escape the planet.
As far as we know, Jasmine and my clone are working for Russell Anzak and Ozma and are still on the planet with the twins.
Zar-Q, the blue alien that helped us to escape and the shape shifter, Josh are also still on Zerron and I hope that both of them are alright.
A few days after we escaped and ended up on the planet Crystaltina, Kyle finally allowed us to go back home to Earth. However both Celestria and Tom wanted to stay. Kyle gave the the means to teleport to his apartment if need be.
It wasn’t like we didn’t visit them almost every day. Celestria and Kyle both thought it was a good idea to train me a little and Celestria has in charge of teaching me more of a defensive approach with my powers while Kyle was more aggressive. Celestria also started to teach me how to make potions and gave me a brief history of my past life.
They wanted to start out slow until I start high school. They felt that I should still get a normal education and told me it would be easier to get me on a schedule once I start, which would be tomorrow. Middle school pretty much went by as a blur once I came back to Earth and honestly, I don’t remember much of it.
My last day before all this mess starts up and I’m back at the ruins of a castle on Crystaltina. It’s a warm day, with very few clouds in the sky.
“Celestria and I have decided to up your training,” Kyle tells me, his brown hair waving back in forth in front of his eyes due to the slight breeze.
“What do you mean, I’ve pretty much mastered my fire powers,” I say.
“The basics, yes,” Celestria says, “But there’s much more you need to learn.”
“And you need to master a weapon,” Kyle adds.
Rolling my eyes, “And I still have to go to school?”
“We’ve figure it all out,’ Celestria tells me. “You will go to school with Kyle and then after school you will come here for study on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and you will train with Kyle afterschool on the other days.”
“Wait, Kyle going to go to school with me?”
“My idea,” Celestria says. “The both of you still need some sort of education.”
“He’s not going to take the same classes as me, is he? You want me to get sick and tired of him before the week is over?”
“Yea, thanks,” Kyle says dryly. “Don’t worry, I won’t I won’t smother you.”
“Are you guys ready for school?” asks Celestria.
“Oh don’t start with that. I’ve got my dad keeping me in check with school. You guys just worry about the super hero aspect of things,” I say.
I’m still living with my dad who wasn’t too keen on the whole name change but he did thought it was a little funny. I can’t let him know about my second life, it’s just safer that way. I told him that Anya was a nickname that I picked up in middle school.
“Hey, what time should I tell my dad that I will be home?”
“School gets out at 3:30 so you should be home around 6:30,” Celestria informs me. “You still need to have time to do your homework after all.”
Kyle’s uncle, who lives in Seattle, leased out an apartment for Kyle to stay at. He offered to move Kyle up to Seattle with him but Kyle persisted to stay in Florida.
“If that’s it, I’m going to head home and play some video games before you guys work me to death.” I pull out a small bottle from my pocket and toss it to the ground. I wave goodbye before teleporting back home.
“You aren’t you coming with us?” Kyle asks Celestria after my departure.
“I’m home schooling myself and Tom, when he lets me. He’s been working in Dorter, helping to build homes. School really isn’t for him and I think he’s happier this way. As for me, it’d the benefits of being older. Besides, I’m learning here just fine of my own. You just need to worry about Anya and keep her safe.”
“I will,” Kyle trails off as he takes out a potion and throws it to the ground. The glass shatters and a small portal with light blue colors opens up at his feet.
“What is it?”
“She’s taking this entire thing pretty well. I know she’s strong willed but she hasn’t really vented about this entire situation since after we escaped from Ozma.”
“Women tend to keep a lot of things inside until one day it can’t be kept inside anymore. Hopefully one of us will be around her when it happens.”
